Why Gappi exists
Childhood has always travelled through stories.
But when families move, the language of those stories can quietly get left behind.
Gappi is our attempt to keep that connection alive: a screen-free audio companion where children can meet stories, songs and ideas in the languages that feel like home.
The story behind the story
Built for children growing up between languages.
Across India and around the world, many children understand a home language but hear less of it every year. Parents want to help, yet the easiest content is often on a screen, in English or disconnected from their own cultural worlds.
Gappi brings carefully chosen audio into ordinary moments: bedtime, quiet play, a visit to grandparents or a long journey. The aim is simple—not to turn listening into a lesson, but to make a child curious enough to ask for one more story.

Children deserve respect
No baby talk, frantic rewards or fear-based engagement. We choose stories that leave room for thought, laughter and questions.
Trust must be visible
Parents should understand what Gappi plays, stores and asks for. The child-facing speaker is mic-free; control stays with caregivers.
Culture is lived, not pasted on
Regional detail comes from language, place, objects, humour and everyday life—with creators and reviewers who know the context.
Where we are now
Beginning with six languages and 100 founding families.
Our first collection is being shaped around Maithili, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Odia and Marathi. We are working with families, language experts, storytellers, educators and child-development reviewers before Gappi reaches more homes.
